Special FX Salon & Day Spa has been around for 20 years located in South San Jose. It has grown into such a lovely salon and day spa. In July 2010 I got a horrible hair cut from some mom & pop nail/hair salon on West Capitol Expressway. With my wedding one month away I wasn't sure what to do- so I did some research on hair extensions.

Extensions
I decided to do Hairloc extensions because they were not damaging to one's own natural hair. Finding a salon that does Hairloc extensions is not easy. I was lucky enough to find Special FX Salon & Day Spa. After a free consultation with Denise we decided on what hair would best suit my needs. The turn around time for my hair extensions wasn't long at all. Denise and her assistant Ritchie did a wonderful job on my hair extensions. They educated me on how to care and style my new and lovely hair extensions. On my honeymoon to Maui- I was hard on my hair (snorkeling in the ocean, swimming in the pool). One of my extensions fell out- but I was lucky to catch this and Denise was able to put it back in when I got home.

Wedding Hair
Denise recommended Laura to do my wedding hair. My hair was 18 inches long, heavy and thick. Laura was able to do the most beautiful half up/half down hairstyle with beautiful curls. This hairstyle lasted me the whole evening! If I ever need someone to style my hair for any occasion- I'm definitely going to Laura.

Brazilian Blowout
My hair is naturally thick and wavy. My best friend when hairstyling is my flat iron. After hearing out the Brazilian Blowout I decided to give it a try and it did wonders on my hair. Denise and Ritchie did a great job on my Brazilian Blowout - my hair was sleek, smooth and uber easy to manage. I highly recommend this service for anyone who has thick and wavy hair. Do note when you get a Brazilian Blowout one must use sulfate free hair products to maintain the look.

Overall Salon Experience
Katherine, the main reception/appointment scheduler is kind and personable- she's always on top of making the appointments and doing reminder calls. When one enters Special FX Salon & Day Spa you will note the beautiful hardwood floors, makeup display on the left and hair products on the right hand side. This salon is well maintained and clean. The staff is friendly and the clients almost always seem happy.

Not too long ago I donated my hair to Locks of Love. My hair normally grows fast but I wasn't happy with the short hair in the interim. So I came back to Denise today and she did yet another amazing job on my hair. I jokingly call Denise & Ritchie my "Hair Doctors" because they do such an excellent job on my hair. Seriously, words cannot begin to express how thankful I am to Denise and Ritchie for taking such good care of my hair.
