Throughout the years, we have maintained our philosophy of providing our clientele with innovative, cutting-edge hair styling services in a comfortable, upscale setting. We have receptionists on hand to greet clients, schedule appointments, and handle retail sales. Our front desk staff is extremely competent and friendly. We also offer a full espresso bar, as well as regular coffee, tea, wine, and water.

Hair Stylists - Rental Stations

Our rental hair stylists have the option of utilizing our front desk staff to handle appointment scheduling for an extra fee. Stylists that opt to schedule appointments on their own rent their stations at a lower rate. However, we do have receptionists available any time the salon is open; clients can always get a hold of a member of our staff and will always be greeted by us when they come in for their appointments.

Hair Styling Assistants

Our eight month hair styling assistant training program includes hands-on coloring, cutting, perming, and straightening class once a week. We typically require that all commission hair stylists go through our training program. However, stylists with extensive experience may be eligible to go through an expedited training schedule. All hair styling assistants that graduate from our training program are guaranteed a station at Special FX Salon & Day Spa.

Estheticians

We are now accepting applications for estheticians working on a commission or rental basis.

At Special FX, we remain dedicated to helping our employees save for retirement. Our salon matches 20 cents to every dollar employees put into their 401(k) accounts, up to the first 8 percent.

Yearly Classes Taught by Nationally Renowned Stylists

Because it is so important for Special FX stylists to remain up-to-date on the latest styles of the season, we offer hands-on hair-cutting classes taught by nationally renowned educators such as Teresa Mockler of Redken Exchange on 5th Ave in New York City, Carter Lund of Framesi, and other stylists featured in trade magazines. We put these classes on twice a year at no cost to our employees or rental stylists.

Retail Contests

Our quarterly and yearly retail contests provide our stylists with extra incentive to sell the products we offer. The top two retailers of our yearly contest receive tickets to the Redken Exchange (worth $1,000 each), as well as airfare to New York City. Stylists are also paid commission on all retail sales.
